COVID-19 Sick Leave While the Provincial Health Officer (PHO) guidelines are in effect, we ask that all staff members not report to work if they are feeling unwell or are displaying any of the COVID-19 symptoms which are similar to other respiratory illnesses including the flu and common cold. According to the BC Center for Disease Control (BCCDC), COVID-19 symptoms include fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, and painful swallowing, which range from mild to severe symptoms. If you start to feel ill while at work, please notify the President and CEO or another staff member immediately and go home. At this time, the BC Games Society is following the PHO’s guidelines and will ask staff members to self-isolate at home for a minimum of two (2) weeks if they are sick. This also applies if a staff member suspects they have come into contact with someone diagnosed with COVID-19 or have returned from outside of Canada. During the isolation period, staff members may continue to work from home, if they are able, with the President and CEO’s approval. Staff members who are not able to work from home will continue to have their regular wages paid by the BC Games Society for up to ten (10) days during the self-isolation period as long as the guidelines from the PHO are in place and appropriate documentation is provided.
