Board Orientation Manual 2024

What types of incidents must be reported immediately? Staff members must immediately phone to report the following types of incidents to the emergency and accident line whether there is an injury or not: • Any incident that causes fatality, causes risk of death, or seriously injures a worker. • Any blasting accident that results in injury, or unusual event involving explosives. • A driving incident that causes death, injury, or decompression sickness requiring treatment. • A major leak or release of a dangerous substance. • A major structural failure or collapse of a structure, equipment, construction support system, or excavation. • Any other serious mishap. COVID-19 Safety Plan The BC Games Society has a COVID-19 Safety Plan that assesses the potential exposures and provides measures on how they have been addressed. Staff members can find the COVID-19 Safety Plan posted at the entrance to the office and the COVID-19 Travel and Meeting Protocols document can also be found on the network. The COVID-19 Safety Plan will be updated regularly as guidelines change and will be communicated to all staff members. It is the staff member’s responsibility to stay up to date on the latest COVID safety requirements as published by the BC Games Society. Vaccination Policy (October 2021) Due to the nature of the work of staff, the ongoing contact with each other (e.g. travel, meetings), and extensive contact with volunteers and other individuals, the Board of Directors passed a policy requiring all staff to provide proof of full vaccination for COVID-19. Workplace Accommodation The BC Games Society is committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where all staff members are treated with respect and dignity, and to providing reasonable workplace accommodation, short of undue hardship. The BC Games Society will act in a manner consistent with its obligations under the BC Human Rights Code . The purpose of accommodation is to ensure that individuals who are otherwise able to work are not unfairly excluded from doing so when working conditions can be adjusted without causing undue hardship to the BC Games Society. Assessment of undue hardship includes, but is not limited to, whether accommodation adjustments would prove cost-prohibitive, or create risks to health or safety. There is no precise formula for determining undue hardship. Accordingly, each accommodation situation will be viewed as unique and assessed and addressed individually by the BC Games Society. Accommodation is a shared responsibility between the staff member and the employer. To be successful, accommodation requires collaboration and open communication. As the employer, the BC Games Society is responsible for: • To a reasonable extent, removing barriers that prevent people from accessing, or being included in, the workplace • Responding to requests for accommodation in a timely, confidential, and sensitive manner
