• Assessing the situation and seeking clarification where needed • Identifying available options for accommodation in collaboration with the staff member • Providing individual accommodation up to the point of undue hardship Staff members seeking accommodation are responsible for: • Making their accommodation needs known. • Responding in a timely manner to reasonable requests for information regarding the identification and assessment of accommodation options. • Providing all necessary documentation in support of their request for accommodation. • Collaborating with the BC Games Society management to identify potential accommodation options. • Providing any information about any restrictions or limitations. • Accepting an offer of accommodation that meets their needs, even if it is not their preferred accommodation option. Accommodation Procedure • A staff member may request accommodation by notifying the President and CEO using the “ Staff Member Request for Accommodation Form ”. • The President and CEO will document the request, including the staff member’s name, position and date of the request, any details provided, and any accommodation options suggested by the staff member. • The President and CEO may request additional supporting documentation from the staff member to identify accommodation options (e.g. details of restrictions or limitations). • The BC Games Society will ensure that all accommodation options short of undue hardship have been considered prior to refusing accommodation. • If a request for accommodation is denied, the President and CEO will clearly communicate the reasons to the staff member. Working Alone Working alone includes staff members who may go for a period of time where they do not have direct contact with a co-worker and there is no one readily available to provide assistance in case of an emergency, injury, or illness. This applies to staff members working from home as well as for staff members who work alone while onsite at the BC Games Society’s premises or while at the Games or events. Whenever possible, the BC Games Society will attempt to minimize the incidence of staff members working alone. However, the BC Games Society recognizes that there will be circumstances where this is not possible. When staff members are required to work alone or in isolation, the BC Games Society is committed to providing and maintaining procedures which will promote a safe and healthy work environment. Staff members working alone are responsible for adhering to the following safety awareness guidelines:
