Logistics The Logistics Directorate provides support services to all Directorates to assist with their planning. This includes potable water access, waste management, fencing, warehousing, signs, trucks, tables, tents, chairs, carpentry, etc. This Directorate will obtain from each Directorate, their requirements in these areas and will then source these resources from within the community (borrow/rent/purchase, as appropriate). They will create a tracking system to allocate resources to Directorates, establish a system for smaller items to be picked up/returned by each Directorate, and coordinate the delivery of the large items with the Directorates/providers. This Directorate will also coordinate the search for a Games warehouse (for BC Summer Games from March-December in the year of the Games; for BC Winter Games from the January in the year before their Games until the end of March following their Games) of 2000-4000 sq. ft., depending on ceiling height. Environment Services The main purpose of the Environment Services Chair area is to coordinate and oversee water, recycling, and waste management for all Games venues and events. This Chair area will develop and lead the implementation of plans to ensures all for all Games venues/events have potable water access, recycling containers, and waste management system (including composting and washroom/portable toilet access, as needed). This will include gathering information from the respective Directorates on their needs for their venues/events and/or these venues to look at logistics and set-up. For the sport venues, this will entail working closely with the Venue Management Chair (Sport) to determine needs , including delivery and placement. They will work with the Properties Management Chair (Logistics) to determine what services are needed where so that the Properties Management Chair can research options and make arrangements. This Chair area also helps raise awareness of environmental issues across all areas of the Games, which will include recommending a plan for minimizing the impact of the Games on the environment (i.e. reducing printing where possible, biodegradable options, etc.) based on discussions with other Directorates on what they are able to achieve.
