responsible for protecting any sensitive company information, and will not share any information, knowledge or data which they receive during the course of their work at the BC Games Society, except as required in the performance of their duties. For more information, see the Standards of Conduct document. Ownership of Materials The BC Games Society remains the sole owner of any intellectual property, materials, and information produced by staff members, such as survey data, processes, and reports. Staff members will return any confidential or proprietary information in their possession or under their control at the BC Games Society’s request or upon leaving the BC Games Society. Use and Reproduction of Information Any confidential or proprietary information must not be reproduced in any form except as is required in the performance of job duties. Staff members will not use any confidential or proprietary information, directly or indirectly, for their own benefit, or for the benefit of any other party. This clause remains in effect for the duration of a staff member’s employment with The BC Games Society, and after their employment ends. Leaving the BC Games Society Abandonment of Position If the staff member does not call or fails to show up to work for three (3) consecutive workdays, they will be considered to have voluntarily resigned employment with the BC Games Society. Temporary Layoffs Due to the nature of our business, the BC Games Society may experience reductions in workload and/or suspensions of accessible work which may result in a temporary layoff of a staff member’s employment. In the event of a temporary layoff of employment, the BC Games Society will at all times act in compliance with the BC Employment Standards Act . Termination/Resignation/Retirement The BC Games Society retains the right to terminate staff members according to the BC Employment Standards Act . Terminations will be handled in a confidential, professional manner by all concerned. The BC Games Society staff members are asked to provide two (2) weeks’ notice of resignation, and at least four (4) weeks’ notice of retirement. On receiving notice, the BC Games Society may decide to pay the staff member for the notice period and end their duties immediately. Terminated staff members and staff members who have resigned or retired are entitled to receive all earned pay in accordance with the BC Employment Standards Act .
