Impaired Driving Staff members impaired by any substance are prohibited from driving a vehicle while working or representing the BC Games Society. Staff members who are found to be driving a vehicle during work hours while impaired will be reported to the authorities and may lead to termination of employment. Consequences Staff members found possessing, using, or impaired by any substance during working hours will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment. Consumption at Events Staff members are always expected to behave in a professional and appropriate manner, including at company-sponsored activities and social events which include the service of alcoholic beverages. Consumption Guidelines • As ambassadors of the BC Games Society, staff members are expected to set a positive example. • If a staff member chooses to drink alcohol on approved occasions while conducting company business, they are expected to do so responsibly. • Staff members must refrain from cannabis use while conducting BC Games Society business or attending events on behalf of the organization. • The staff member’s decision to drink alcoholic beverages at a company-related function includes a responsibility to arrive home safely and refrain from driving while impaired. • All staff members must ensure that their performance at work and their judgment are not impaired by alcohol. • It is unacceptable for staff members to report to work or perform their job impaired or intoxicated by alcohol or any other substance, including cannabis. Smoking The BC Games Society office, Games venues, and events are smoke-free, including the smoking of tobacco, cannabis, and/or vaping. The BC Games Society encourages its staff members not to smoke, and smoking is prohibited on the BC Games Society office, at Games and events, and when representing the Society at functions or meetings. If it is medically necessary, a prescription is issued by a medical doctor, and it is properly documented as an accommodation, smoking or vaping cannabis may be allowed. Staff members must discuss this with the President and CEO prior to use. IT Acceptable Use
Staff members will be provided with all necessary computers, software, and other information from the BC Games Society in order to be fully capable of completing their work.
Any device that allows access to any company information, such as hard drives, contact lists, marketing materials, etc. must be password protected.
