Standard = up to 37 weeks, or up to 35 weeks if pregnancy leave is taken. Extended = up to 63 weeks, or up to 61 weeks if pregnancy leave is taken.

Staff Member must apply for this option 6 months in advance. Note: offering this option remains at the discretion of the employer

The top-up amount (paid by BCGS) would be up to 85% of the spouse or common-law partner’s salary to the maximum of the staff member’s salary. Note: If staff member leaves the organization within 6 months of the completion of the Spousal Leave, there is a requirement to repay 100% of the amount.

Bereavement Leave To support our staff members during difficult times, the BC Games Society will grant up to five (5) days of paid leave on the death of a member of the staff member’s immediate family*, or close friend. These days do not have to be consecutive or start on the date of death. *“Immediate family” means the spouse; natural, adopted, or step child; natural or step parent; guardian; natural or step sibling; in-laws; natural, adopted or step grandchild; natural or step grandparent of a staff member; any person who lives with the staff member as a member of the staff Staff members who are eligible to vote in a municipal or provincial election are entitled to four (4) consecutive hours leave in order to do so. If polling hours do not allow staff members this four-hour period, the minimum time needed to provide the voting leave will be considered paid leave, per the Elections Act of BC . Staff members who are eligible to vote in a federal election are entitled to three (3) consecutive hours leave in order to do so. If polling hours do not allow staff members this three-hour period, the minimum time needed to provide the voting leave will be considered paid leave, per the Canada Elections Act. member’s family.
